Two day Technical Meeting on Equal Pay (EPIC) Concluded

Today, 10 UNU-GEST fellows who are enrolled in the module Gender, Labour and Migration concluded a two day technical meeting of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) on promoting better indicators, statistics, data and policies to reduce the gender pay gap.

UNU-GEST Fellows visit Icelandic Parliament

Last Friday, as a co-curricular activity, UNU-GEST fellows visited the National Parliament of Iceland (Alþingi). The fellows were led around the new and old parliament buildings by Birgitta Bragadóttir who presented to Alþingi’s history through paintings and art installations in the buildings.

UNU-GEST participates in a conference in Maputo: “Men, Masculinities and Gender Equality in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean: Interregional Dialogues”

UNU-GEST representatives Dr. Thomas Brorsen Smidt and Anna Guðrún Aradóttir participated in the conference “Men, Masculinities and Gender Equality in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean: Interregional Dialogues”, organized by UNESCO and HOPEM, that took place in Maputo from 25 to 27 February. The main purpose of the seminar was to establish a framework for formulating constructive critical approaches to urgent issues around men, masculinities and gender equality in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

UNU-GEST Fellows Visit the Supreme Court of Iceland

Yesterday, as an extra curriculum activity to the module Gender, Violence and Security, the UNU-GEST fellows visited the Supreme Court of Iceland. During the visit, the fellows were briefed on the Icelandic judicial system, the history of the Supreme Court of Iceland, and the recent reform of the judicial system, with the establishment of the Appeals Court in 2018.
